Privacy Policy
mimico kids ("the App") helps children practise English by listening to picture-book stories and saying them aloud. We care about children's privacy and handle only the minimum information the App needs.
1. Information kept only on your device
The following stays on your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else:
- Recordings of your child's voice (used to compare with the model reading)
- Learning records (days read, practice counts, medals)
- Profiles (a nickname and an animal icon; no real name is needed)
- App settings
Recordings are also excluded from device backups (iCloud and Google). Learning records, profiles and settings may be included in the device backups a parent has turned on (iCloud and Google), but they are never sent to us.
Parents can delete it at any time from the parents' screen ("Delete records and recordings"). It is also removed when you delete the App.
2. Information sent outside the device
The App communicates with outside services only for these purposes:

- The anonymous ID is not linked to any child's or parent's name, email address, or device identifier.
- As with any internet connection, your IP address reaches the service you connect to. We do not use IP addresses to identify individuals.
3. What we do not use
- No advertising.
- No analytics or tracking services.
- We do not collect children's names, photos, location, or contacts.
- Children's voices are never sent off the device.
4. Children's privacy
The App is made for children. In line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws, we do not collect personal information from children. Actions that need a parent's judgement, such as purchases and external links, are behind a parental gate that only adults can pass.
5. Microphone
Recordings are used only to compare with the model reading and are stored only on the device. You can turn off microphone access at any time in the device settings; listening practice still works without it.
6. Purposes and legal bases
We handle the information sent outside the device (section 2) only for these purposes and on these legal bases (following the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws):
- Buying, restoring and checking subscriptions, and checking purchases of paid stories: to perform the contract you entered into when purchasing
- Keeping story delivery secure (preventing misuse): our legitimate interests
We never use it for advertising, marketing, analytics or profiling.
7. International transfers
RevenueCat, Inc. is based in the United States and processes information there. Our server runs on Cloudflare, Inc. services, and connections are handled at Cloudflare locations around the world. These providers handle information under their own safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Your rights
- Information on the device (section 1) can be deleted at any time from the parents' screen ("Delete records and recordings") or by deleting the App. We do not hold this information.
- To request access to, correction or deletion of, or restriction of processing of information linked to the anonymous ID, please contact us at the address below and include your anonymous ID. You can find it on the parents' screen under "About this app" → "Your anonymous ID"; press and hold to copy it.
- You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country or region.
9. Country- and region-specific information
- EU and UK: Sections 6 to 8 are our information under the GDPR and UK GDPR. The App is designed so that it never needs consent to process a child's personal data. In line with the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, the highest privacy settings are the default.
- United States: Under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not collect personal information from children under 13. The anonymous ID is used only for purposes needed to run the App, such as processing purchases.
- South Korea: Under the Personal Information Protection Act, we do not collect personal information from children under 14.
- Other countries and regions: In line with laws such as Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the personal data protection acts of Thailand and Malaysia, and Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law, we handle only the minimum information needed.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page, and announce important changes in the App.
